One of the reasons that many people get credit cards is so that they can earn rewards.
A popular rewards program you may know is earning airline miles. Usually that goes toward individual airlines and you can earn free flights, among other things.
But there are also more general travel rewards programs out there where you earn credit towards more than flights such as hotel stays, car rentals, and more.
The Miles by Discover® Card is a great travel rewards card where you can easily earn miles for rewards.

Earning Rewards With Miles by Discover
Unlike Discover’s cash back credit cards, the Miles by Discover card focuses on your ability to earn miles. It’s more like earning points than actual cash back.
However, the miles that you earn with this program aren’t restricted to airfare. You can also turn in your points for merchandise, gift cards, and cash back.
Earning rewards is fairly straightforward with the Miles by Discover credit card.
Each time you spend $1, you get one mile. However, you can also earn bonus miles. For the first year, you can receive 1,000 bonus miles each month that you make a purchase. This adds up to as much as $120 in travel rewards.
Because you are earning miles that are redeemed for travel credit, you don’t have to worry about using your miles for specific airlines. You don’t have to worry about airline restrictions, seat restrictions, or blackout dates. On top of that, you can also use your rewards travel credit to offset the cost of hotels and car rentals. This is a great way to see more flexibility in your travel options.
And if you don’t want the travel rewards, you can redeem for cash or merchandise. Your best deal, though, might be for gift cards. In some cases, you can get a gift card for less than the face value when you choose preferred partner merchants.
Other Benefits of the Miles by Discover Card
Not only do you have the ability to earn travel rewards, but you can also get specific insurance coverage. The Miles by Discover offers secondary collision damage insurance if you rent your car using your Miles card.
0% Introductory APR
There is also an introductory APR offer for the Miles by Discover credit card.
For the first six (6) months you are approved you get 0% APR on purchases and balance transfers. So, if you have a high rate credit card, you can transfer the balance and take advantage of the 0% APR to help pay down your principal faster. This is also great if you know you have a big purchase coming up.
The variable APR starts at a relatively low 10.99% after the intro. period ends. However, that rate is only for the most well-qualified consumers. The rate can go as high as 20.99% to start.
No Annual Fee
All of these benefits come to you without any annual fee for the card. There’s also no reward redemption fees or additional card fees.
Excellent Customer Satisfaction
Discover has been ranked #1 in customer satisfaction for 16 years in a row by Brand Keys Customer Loyalty Engagement Index report.
If you plan to use the Miles by Discover credit card, make sure you do it within your regular budget plan.
You don’t want to end up paying a high rate of interest that offsets the value of your rewards. If you can, use your rewards card regularly, especially in the first year, to rack up the miles faster, and earn as many bonus miles as you can.
With the right planning, you can see a great deal of benefit, especially if you travel regularly.
